April 22, 1938: Dismissal of Jewish Austrian academics by Nazi regime

Today marks the anniversary of the enforcement of the Nuremberg Laws in Austrian academia, after the annexation of Austria to the Nazi regime (Anschluss) of 1938. This persecuted academics on a racial (and political) basis, and at the University of Vienna it forced around 50% of the working physicists to leave office (and consequently to emigrate, or being deported).
