{"id":10957,"date":"2019-07-26T13:20:10","date_gmt":"2019-07-26T11:20:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/physik.nawi.at\/?p=10957"},"modified":"2019-07-25T15:08:45","modified_gmt":"2019-07-25T13:08:45","slug":"phd-project-on-inner-city-air-quality-forecasting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/physik.nawi.at\/index.php\/phd-project-on-inner-city-air-quality-forecasting\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD project on inner city air quality forecasting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>PhD project:<\/strong> <em>Exploitation of street canyon observations for inner city air quality forecasts and emission optimization<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the Institute for Energy and Climate \nResearch &#8211; Troposphere (IEK-8) at Forschungszentrum J\u00fclich we are \nseeking for a PhD candidate to work on the investigation of a prediction\n model for inner city air quality by data analytics methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PhD candidate will develop, implement, and test\n data analytics methods (e. g. cluster analysis, support vector \nmachines, deep learning) in order to derive inner city air quality \nforecasts from street canyon observations and regional\n scale air quality forecasts. Therefore, the candidate must handle, \nmerge and exploit large amounts of data from atmospheric transport \nmodels, observations and other valuable information. Thus, observed \nurban pollution will be assessed and merged with modelled\n regional background pollution.
